The short version
Across all 54 models, the lowest price we track for each runs from $386 to $2,499.99. The typical (median) price is $879 and the average is $1,014.44. A few large units pull the average above the median, so the median is the better number to plan around.
The cheapest is the Dabbsson 1000L at $386. The most expensive is the Anker SOLIX S5000 at $2,499.99. Where a model is sold in more than one place, we use the lowest price listed.
By price band:
- Under $500: 7 models
- $500 to $999.99: 27 models
- $1,000 to $1,499.99: 10 models
- $1,500 to $1,999.99: 7 models
- $2,000 and up: 3 models
Half of all models cost less than $1,000. For those, see the best power stations under $1,000. For bigger units, see the under $2,000 list.
Many prices are sales
Treat these prices as a snapshot. Many are Black Friday, launch or clearance prices, and several are far below the maker's list price. Some models are pre-orders or ship later. Prices can go back up without notice. Check the store page for the current price and ship date before you buy.
Price by capacity
Capacity is the battery size in watt-hours (Wh). It is the best way to compare what you get for the money. See this explanation of the watt-hour. Dividing each price by its capacity gives the price per Wh.
| Capacity | Models | Cheapest | Median price | Most expensive | Median price per Wh |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1,000 to 1,999 Wh | 22 | $386 | $554.50 | $1,079 | $0.471 |
| 2,000 to 2,999 Wh | 15 | $649 | $899 | $1,499 | $0.419 |
| 3,000 Wh and up | 17 | $899 | $1,599 | $2,499.99 | $0.466 |
Across all 54 models, the median price per Wh is $0.458 and the average is $0.455.
The 2,000 to 2,999 Wh band has the lowest median price per Wh. The lowest in that band is the Dabbsson 2000L at $0.317, and the highest is the EcoFlow DELTA 3 Max Plus at $0.561. In the 1,000 to 1,999 Wh band, the ALLPOWERS R2500 V2 is lowest at $0.338 and the Jackery HomePower 1000 Plus v2 is highest at $0.731. In the 3,000 Wh and up band, the Pecron F3000LFP is lowest at $0.293, which is the lowest of all 54, and the EcoFlow DELTA 3800 Gen4 is highest at $0.584.
Price per Wh does not rise in a straight line with size. Large units cost more in total, but not always more per Wh. A bigger unit also tends to have more AC output, and some can take extra batteries.
What else to budget for
The price of the unit is not the whole project. We do not have a sourced dollar figure for these items, so get quotes before you buy:
- A licensed electrician to install a transfer switch or panel, if you want to power circuits in your home.
- Extra batteries, if you want to expand a unit later.
- Solar panels and cables, if you want to recharge from the sun.
For help picking, see the home backup ranking and the expandable ranking.
How these numbers were made
Prices come from each maker's US store. We take each model's lowest listed price, then compute the figures above from those 54 values with a script. Capacity is the stated battery capacity in Wh. Medians and averages are from the script output with no rounding of the dollar figures beyond three decimals for price per Wh.
